my neighbor had a mimosa tree in her yard and cut it down I have been trying to get a start from what was left, new shoots are growing from the root of the tree any idea how I can get one started. there are no roots on the plant you have to cut into the bark of the root. need anyones help please moderator's note: moved this post to create a new topic
You can take the sprouts that have developed from the roots. These often have a greater capacity for forming roots themselves. You can either pop them into water or dip them into hormone rooting powder and then plant them directly into soil. I'd try both methods and see which works best for you. Good luck. :-D
So funny... The thing that you want is the bane of my existence! My next door neighbor has one and as a result, I have them all over the place.... I wish they would all disappear, quite frankly, although they do have a pretty form and blossom and the scent walking up the yard on a muggy summer night can't be beat! Hmmm. I wonder if I could send you one successfully? They have a really really long tap root and it's hard to dig them up completely (this I know because I am constantly trying to!).
