I've never collected seeds from Petunias before and was wondering if anyone can help me by giving some instructions on what to do. I've had a few requests for seeds from my Bumble Bee Petunias, and I'm quite interested in collecting the seeds for myself and to give away to others. Any hints or suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks. :?:
Hi Bernieh, I put a tutorial on the seed starting forum just a couple weeks ago and I used petunias for the info. It's the " collecting seeds, tips wanted please", started by jacquelyn, topic.
I've had a look and bookmarked the page. It looks simple enough. Obviously I just have to watch carefully for those spent blooms.
I have often collected seeds from petunias. You just have to watch out for the fat seed pods that appear on some of the spent flowers, leave those on the plant and wait for them to turn brown, when they will be easily collected.
I have never collected the seeds, but I have a cute little petunia growing in the middle of my brick patio. It is a volunteer from last summer's petunias that were in a container.
One of my Customer is a writer Cindy Gerard. Her DH Tom said he would collect seeds for me.He has nicest Waves. And last year he took seeds-spread on gravel driveway close to garage. Lot came up this year.Very pretty
