Have to type fast keep loosing my connection. But my heavy gauge cage-the weight of plant bent them like pretzels. Hard to weed and pick.We share products with people who can't garden. But was hard to weed and pick.

I stake mine and tie them back all Summer. They get to be 8 and 9 feet that way. Next year I need new stakes.

We use cattle panels that were left here in the barn by previous owners. If there is a metal scrap yard near you, you may be able to get some of the bars that are used over windows and large doors. We have a couple of those, and they are sturdy. We put the panels/bars on T-bars, and attach the tomato vines to the metal with cotton ties cut from old tee shirts and socks. It ain't pretty, but it works!

We buy concrete reinforcing wire by the roll and cut it into 5' long pieces and use heavy duty zipties to make a cylinder of them. cut the very bottom ring off and use the left over "stakes" to push into the ground. I have RARELY had them fall over. The few times that happened was due to a sudden burst of high wind from a storm. I also try to plant semi indeterminate plants such as celebrity to keep them from sprawling so wide.

Carolyn. I'm going ask Son if he can get some for me.Him and His Dad planted the veggy area.Put things too close together. And I put many layers of wet newspaper and hay down for mulch. They skipped the paper. Got plenty to freeze, dry and share. Just went and picked 5 gallon bucket full. Now to go pick more peppers.I bring them to one church member ..She cans me very good salsa :p

I use round cages made out of fencing, wired to poles so they don't tip over. The plants always sprawl way beyond the cages, so I use whatever I have on hand when they do, usually old metal trellis or more poles.
