Hi everyone :) I moved into my first house a few months ago, and I have these shrubs that were already planted in the front yard:

Do I try to make it retain it's oval shape by cutting off the longer branches that stick out? Or try to square them up, or just let them grow larger? Thanks :)

What are they? Buxus? *squints* If they are, then you can do just about anything you want with them.

Just look at this page here: http://www.hedge.co.nz/Topiary/TopiaryGallery

If you want to keep their ball shape, just trim them whenever you feel the need to do so. Buxus grows slowly so you'll need some patience with them.

I don't know much about them, but hopefully somebody else will be along shortly and answer you better.

Thanks, sorry but I am not sure what they are.

They look like Boxwood to me too. If so, they are easy to care for. You can let them grow naturally, or trim them up into any shape you want... (I myself don't care to cut shrubs into unnatural balls or squares etc. :) )
Yours look little, so if they were mine, I'd just clip off the "fuzzies" and let them grow :stew2:

Thanks :) That is what I plan to do, just cut off the parts that are extra long and let them grow naturally :)
