I found this on the Web today. It's very interesting to forecast the weather without watching the news. I knew the tip about cows lying down before rain, but the cat cleaning itself tip is new to me Click image to see a larger version!
Ah yes, a feature of Firefox. Click it again to zoom, but I'm sure you know // edit: fixed the zoom on the image when you click on it
Some of those are new to me too Frank. I'll be watching for birds sitting on my power lines and smelling the air more frequently.
Birds sitting on the lines around here just means they are roosting for the night no matter what the weather. There are so many in our area, some of the major intersections look like a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's movie The Birds I love the smell of ozone just before the rain starts but now....if we ever get rain again ...I will start sniffing around for the compost like smell too. The one about the easterly wind predicting a storm, the only time we get an easterly wind is when a hurricane or strong tropical storm has hit land in eastern Texas or west Louisiana and on a northerly path to our east...guess that would qualify.
This is really neat. I new a few of these, but never knew there were more ways to predict the weather. I will definitely be using these from now on. I have actually been watching the weather lately to see if we might have any rain coming soon. It has been a while since it last rained. I love the smell of ozone too before the rain. Thanks for this. Great post Frank!
Frank, I'm going to print out the enlarged form and use it with our "Gardening for Beginners" classes ( one of which is at the Senior Center--folks who have been too busy all their lives to have fun with dirt). It's a great resource--thank you for posting!
