H i everyone Its been so long since I been on here I have missed you all, Does anyone have any ideas on keeping rabbits out of the garden? I have tilled up a big new flower garden in the back yard, bought all kinds of new flowers and the rabbits are having a feast every night. I know this sounds crazy but it seams they like the red ones best, I am just about ready to go off on them, Any help would be appreciated Margie

Hi Margie. I have missed you. I was just thinking about you the other day. I hope all is well with you.

Sorry about the rabbit damage. A dog is usually a great deterrent, but I am not encouraged to tell you to shoot them on here, but there is hardly anything to do to get them to stay away. they are pesky and determined to get the good stuff. Which is anything you pay $$ for. Fencing is next to worthless as it is expensive and they will find a way in, no matter what. A live trap becomes someone else's problem if you catch and release elsewhere...which they aren't happy to have you do, either. There are a few spray on repellents that have hot pepper or black pepper in them, which may help.

My friend told me to spray room fresheners very close to the ground. I didn't try them yet but she also said she does that once a week - so that isn't going to be very cheap either if you have a big garden.

Tina, do you have any prickly/thorny plants? Get some trimmings from them (I use rose canes, but anything that is thorny works) and put them around your tender, new plants.
We fenced in our seasonal vegetable garden, which is relatively small and we could afford to do it. However, the bunnies went after my pepper plants, and I put a barrier of rose canes around them. Bunny feet are tender, but their noses are really sensitive! This will help, unless you have a gang of really tough bunnies.

MG - I do have rose canes and also grape holly's which has thorny leaves. I will try this option. Thank you!
