I've noticed that some folks have placed cute animated cartoons/emoticons in their posts. Don't they have to be in GIF format to be animated?
But when trying to upload a GIF, I got a message saying that it had to be a JPG.
    Suggestions?

Hi Cherylad, I will probably make a rule against this soon. We already have smilies and adding bigger animations to posts is distracting.

As for uploading GIFs, the uploader only support JPG and PNG image files. Hope this helps :)

They are actually probably ok in Jokes & Games and Village Square, just not in the purely informative forums and Member's Gallery (already enough great visuals there :)).
