I have a beautiful microfiber couch which is in excellent condition. There are some stains on it which has come over time. Any good way to remove stains from microfiber sofa?

I can agree with the processes shown in the link Eileen posted. We spent three long years without sofas (Quinn ate one when he was 6 months and another a year later!) We are such computer geeks that we spend all our time at computers and dragged lawn furniture inside!

Finally, I couldn't take it anymore! I ordered some mission-style furniture on Overstock and Quinn watched as I painfully put it all together, while describing to him in great detail the limits of my patience. He responded by stealing a pillow off the bed and ripping it to shreds while I was diverted (sigh!)

Anyhoo, after all my worries, R, my dear husband spilt a Guinness on the footstool. He managed to spill the entire can, not a drop on the floor!

WIth no time to look anything up online, I ran to the chest I store dog towels and tossed several over the footstool and made R sit on it! The dogs managed to lick some off while I was getting towels.

Then I took a wet facecloth and used a few drops of shampoo (amazingly similar to Dawn dish detergent) and scrubbed and blotted. Unlike, the article I did soak the fabric, since I knew the Guinness had soaked into the foam. I made R sit and blot many times. I went to bed while footstool was still wet and woke to a perfectly clean footstool!

R has gone on to spill a variety of foods and drinks on the furniture. The dogs have applied muddy footprints and everything seems to come out!

I know white is tricky and shows more sins, I would test an area out of sight. After cleaning, you could use that fabric protector. I don't because I am resigned to the limited time I have with everything. It's either dog or husband or even clumsy me!

    Good luck! Cris

Spray foam carpet shampoo and a toothbrush to scrub usually takes out most stains. For tough stuff, calcium lime and rust remover slightly diluted works. But test first on back side. I can sympathize with the dog problem, I have a few. Just throw an old comforter on the sofa, if it gets dirty you can wash it easier than buying a new sofa.

    I'd prefer the stain... sigh!

Well, It's been almost a year... I have been very happy with the Mission style furniture I bought and it's been easy to clean -but sadly, all is not so easy live with...

I bought 10 yards of heavy duty, outdoor weight fabric to make covers, since they are simple square cushions. Everyone talked me out of it! I even considered making curtains or using it to cover outdoor furniture... why do I listen to other people? Now, I am going to make covers and repair the cushion!

Very embarrassing to enter you house with someone to find this! I was interviewing a landscaper and couldn't respond normally... three dogs greeted me and one was in the basement hiding behind a big cooler refusing to make eye contact. So, so tired.

I would just take a damp rag with a little dawn dish soap. That always worked for me. The only thing it did not work for was a small lipstick stain.
