I'm a gardening newbie in Zone 8. Recently moved to 3/4 acre where there are many trees, shrubs and flowers that I'm trying to learn about. The previous owner wasn't able to take care of it.
It's been so hot and humid for the past 7 weeks since hubby and I moved here. Have been watering beginning at 4:AM every morning with well water on sprinker system for 10 mins, shrub misters 7 mins.
I'll post pics and ask advice asap.
    Thanks for having me! :stew1:

Thanks to all for such a warm welcome!
It's been so hot and humid here. The sprinkers turn on at 4:am but I water with the hose after that while enjoying watching the hummingbirds & butterflies
on the plants. And I've never seen so many dragonflies!

I must look like a nut running around chasing the whitetail dragonfly all over the yard! He flies off everytime I try to take a pic.

Hi Melstra, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas, Dallas county in fact. Like Glendann said lots of Texans here and I am pretty sure we are all drought stricken and roasting under that blasted sun. Here's hoping that fall weather doesn't forget us this year.

I have had many more Dragonflies in the yards this year than ever before and an assortment of colors too.

Thanks Toni! It's great to find such a friendly, informative site.

Mart, hope your Drs appt goes good.

Again last night I watched lightening in the east but alas, not a drop of rain here.
