Humming bird moth.

    Well he came back to the stock and I was able to get a pic of him. Looks almost like a real hummingbird. He is in the upper right quarter of the center stock bloom.

    Lucky you to have a Hummingbird Moth around. Not many people get to see one of those. Last year, I had the good fortune to spot one in my gardens so I hurried to find my camera. He was always on the move so I never got a clear picture of him.

    I know what you mean, I took 5 or 6 pics before I got him to show up that good.

    Beans, the phlox thats in the center of the pick, but down low. Look at the 2 oclock position.

    Ha! Once you know where to look, there he is. So that is a hummingbird moth.... Learn something new every day.

    He looks so much like a hummingbird, it's not hard to figure out what he is. He has a long snout and hovers while he is drinking the nectar just like his namesake. He is even colored about the same too. When I first saw him, I thought it was a hummingbird.

    We get those around here all the time. I didn't know what they were until a couple of years ago.
