Like my Texas neighbors we have had a drought here in north Louisiana. Well yesterday we finally got some rain! I just had to stop what I was doing and go out on the back porch to enjoy. All the birds were loving it too, especially the Hummingbirds. I haven't seen that many at once all summer. It was obvious they thoroughly enjoyed the shower. I was able to get a couple of pictures of a male who perched in a small Redbud tree.
He is so cute. My hummingbirds love the rain also. It fun to watch them, they dart in and out of my porch. What nice pics. Thanks for sharing.
The hummingbirds were loving their'shower bath'. Hope you got enough rain to do some good. Cute pictures...thanks for sharing.
Those are such good pics. It was such luck that he stopped long enough for you to take those pics. Very thouightful of him. Thanks for showing this lovely bird.
Thanks for the nice comments. Those little fellas are hard to photograph! There is a feeder near that redbud tree and this male was guarding it. He perched in the tree and every time another hummer came near it he chased them away. If you have hummingbirds you know what I'm talking about! They are so territorial but quite entertaining!
wonderful pics bluebirdie! our hummers hang out in a huge elderberry bush off to one side of the cabin. just before a big rain storm is coming in, they all rush to the feeders....we have three now so they don't fight, like you said bluebirdie, very territorial. here's a couple of pics i took of them as a storm approached.... i stood right bedside the feeders and i couldn't believe that they didn't flinch with the flash going off!!! http://www.imageuploads.net/ims/pic.php ... bunkie, I have never seen that many in one place. They are so cute. I don't have a feeder out, but when I have, I have never seen them share so nicely! Thanks for sharing your great pics!
I have a friend that sets up a sprayer on mist in his yard when it is hot and dry. He says they zoom through it constantly and then go preen themselves.
