My annual lion hunt was today. I bucketed 15 young lions before they became mature. I use to shoot them years ago and then they became so scarce that now I just uproot them from their home. There have to be more, especially the ones with ears. Ears?? Yes, they only show up after the lawnmower has passed by. Then they stand and roar as if to say, 'You missed me!!" However, the lions may never go extinct as my neighbor has several prides of lions on his lawn. Their sea of yellow manes contrast with their favorite companions Viola papilionacea. Together they brighten the springtime savanna and remain green through the rest of the year even when drought turns the grass brown and dustdevils dance across the landscape. I wanted to mount a lion head and put it on the wall as a trophy…..no luck….maybe Joyce does not like lions? :-( Todays results from the lion hunt.
