My friend gave me potted flowering red lilies (from the nursery). The label says 'hybrid lilies'. There are 3 plants in the pot. I am wondering what I should do to make sure that they come back next year? How should I take care of these beauties?
    Thanks in advance.

Tina, your lily can be planted right now and leave in all winter. Should come up about summer (give or take).
I had a yellow lily, the tag even showed a picture a yellow lily and it came up red. It was a nice surprise seeing I don't have any red lilies.

Tina because your lilies are hybrids they may not be red next year. It all depends on which 'parent' was the dominant colour. I leave my lily bulbs in the ground all year round and even here, where we get severe frosts, they bloom again for me each summer.

Yes Tina, Lilies are very tough. Plant them now and forget about them until next spring!

Thanks so much for responding. I have one more question - can I plant the lily in a container? Will they be all right then?
    Thanks again.

They should be fine in a pot Tina as long as they are in a sheltered spot. I usually cover any planters or flowerpots with bulbs in them with a layer of garden fleece.
