For the most part, our flowers have been doing very well. However, something has infected our fuchsia (hanging basket), impatiens (hanging basket) and hydrangea (big plastic pot). The other flowers, rose bush, and gerbera daises seem to be unaffected. All face south with full sun, with watering when the soil feels dry. The fuchsia looks the worst, then the hydrangea, then the impatiens. I have asked around, but no one has any idea what's wrong with them, so I thought maybe someone here could help. I have not noticed any little bugs on the undersides of the leaves, however, sometimes there are small spider webs on the flowers in the mornings (I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it). I have other pictures, if these are not enough. Hydrangea: Fuchsia: Impatiens:
They look as though they've been burnt to me. When are you watering them? If you water them during the day then the sun is probably scorching the wet leaves. Try watering in the early evening when it's cooler.
Fuchsias like part sun to shade and need to be watered weekly...Move the plant to somewhere where it isn't so hot and sunny. Impatiens like it sunny but not too hot. So if they are in a very hot place best to move them somewhere a bit cooler. they like a lot of water. Don't let them dry out.
Way too much sun. Put them all in at least part shade. Where you live would help too. In TX I'd put them in as much shade as possible in NY part shade with dappled sun....
Thanks so much for your help, guys! We live in an apartment, so I can't put them in a totally different location, but I can move them under the balcony more. This really is a great site!
Website That May Be Our Answer http://extension.umaine.edu/ipm/ipddl/p ... -symptoms/ This link is a page with my hydrangea disorder, and I believe yours as well. Grey Mold. The affected leaves aren't in the sun burn type pattern, it is random, like cigarette/cigar burns.
