We had a gorgeous afternoon and I spent it outside! The peonies are cut down and the flower beds are cleaned! What a great feeling. Last year I didn't feel too good so I had to do all that cleaning this spring and I didn't like it too much :-? Once my nasturtiums finally took off they exploded, trying to clean up that wet, slimy mess was not much fun. The bush was GIANT (and beautiful) but the heavy frosts we've been having left it really icky
Now that mess is up off the sidewalk and everything is buttoned up pretty well before the white stuff starts. I even got my lawn ornaments in the shed. Wore out the poor cat, Jazzy :D She followed me from the front yard to the back yard to the burn pile to the front yard again and.....I did manage to find 3 rosebuds. I trimmed them back and have them sitting in a little vase. It would be way too cool to have a rose in November :p

I'll bet its a good feeling! I have loads of work to do in my gardens yet. Now that I am done work I'll have the time, but first I want to load up the veggie garden with manure :)

Congratulations! :D I'm way behind due to the very wet weather, but then I'm not a clean-up nut in autumn. I often leave the dead leaves until spring if I'm short of time. Last year the frost arrived in mid-October so I never had a chance.

I was playing a game with the weather. I told myself if it snowed, I'd clean in the spring. If not, I had to get my rump in gear and get it done! :p I hardly recognize the breezeway now it is so...vacant  No flowers, no leaves... :(

The horrible, empty feeling of autumn I guess. :( And spring so far away too.

We had a heavy frost a night or two ago. Now I feel compelled to begin the work of clearing dead foliage out. I'm always tempted to wait until Spring, but I can't look at it without getting that antsy feeling that I must do something.

I bet it does feel good to have things all cleaned up and set for the winter.Great job! I am still at it....I kind of took a detour the other day when Walmart had the tulip bulbs on sale so I planted 192 tulip bulbs and I hadn't planned on planting any this fall. I just couldn't pass up a deal for 11 dollars...plus we were having a beautiful day...so I got them all done..now that feels good too.
