Glow in the dark pots!! Line a walkway with them, space them around a deck, add them to a garden for some visual appeal at night. They'll look great during the day as a decorative element, and then give a warm glow to the area at night. Brilliant!! (and yes, pun intended!) ( photo / image / picture from Ronni's Garden )
Seems a year or two ago someone posted about these. For some reason I'm remembering that they fade pretty quickly... maybe a month or two? They are pretty neat though.
I haven't done any research on the how-to, so I have no clue yet as to how I'd go about it. I seem to remember, from a prior project, Rustoleum's glow in the dark paint as being somewhat ineffective, and costly, so I doubt I'd actually use that particular product. I'd just never considered the idea of using that kind of paint for outside stuff before, which is why the whole idea tickled me so much!! I'll be checking into it further and hopefully will find a product that will withstand the outside elements at least for long enough to create a fun effect for a while.
Gee Ronni, around here we just use fireflies. Of course, Texas fireflies are a bit bigger than those pots, and they move around a lot, but they are pretty!
I have a garden decor book that includes a project similar to those globes. They took rounds of wood, painted them different colors of the glow in the dark paint, sealed them and used them as stepping stones in a garden path. I have my list of supplies ready for Spring but I think I am going to use the concrete patio pavers instead of wood...besides I already have several of those.
While I think they look cool, I think they are not realistic as to what the normal person will end up with. I have never seen glow in the dark paint that made a puddle of light beneath the object or really glowed like it was lit up. Nor is it dark yet in the photo...the skyline is still quite bright...hmmm. I obviously am skeptical that the paint really will look like this. Let us know if it really works.
Meid, you keep me in stitches. You have such a way of talking that I just have to smile. Seriously though, I'll bet that they will look pretty nice. Gonna put'em in your back yard, or line the "Way of Kings" leading to your front porch? There are a few folks here on my allotment complex that have used smaller ones lining their entrance paths. They were solar-powered, but these look as they could be wired from the house. So then...if you really do do this, please do post a piccy of your work, oké?
