Yesterday when we got home from the hospital I walked over to look at the garden. I told dr that there were about 20 tomatoes that needed to be picked. He wouldn't let me go pick them. Today, I posted that I thought there might be 40 or 50. So, basket in hand I went out to pick them. dr came to help since I'm one sort of one handed at the moment. We picked and picked and picked some more. Here is the result. two baskets of tomatoes ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) A big pile of tomatoes ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) So, how many do you think we picked? Well I didn't estimate very well. There are 88 tomatoes in the baskets or the pile. (same tomatoes) dr sorted them out and has already put a few that were getting over ripe in the freezer. We'll deal with the others another day. dooley
Tis better to count 50 and have 88 than count 88 and have 50. They satisfy the appetite no matter which way you count, nice tomatoes Dooley. Jerry
I agree Jerry. A great crop Dooley but what's happened to you? You mentioned you were one handed at the moment so I'm getting a tad worried. Do tell me what's happened to you to put my mind at rest.
Oh, on Tuesday I went to get a lump off of my breast and it became a mastectomy of the left breast. So, using my left hand can pull at the stitches. dr won't let me do anything. dooley
WOW! Now that's SOMMME 'maters! Well no matter what you counted...estimated, or whatever---88 is 88. Well done, Dooley. You are way far ahead of me at the moment. Seeing yours gives me hope, though. They just look beautiful. Well picked, you. BTW--did you wear one of those harvesting aprons when you were a-pickin'?
Now why didn't I think of that!! The last thing you want is to do any damage to the wound by putting strain on the stitches. Take care and listen to Brian ... well at least until you heal.
I used those two little baskets. I do have an apron hanging by the back door though. I thought maybe I needed something a little larger or more open so I wouldn't squish them. If there's just a few I use the apron. dooley
Dooley, I wish you the best in your recovery. Take good care of yourself. I wish I could stroll over and fill a basket of Maters! My toms are just starting to take off, what with all the cool rainy weather we've been having; they need some warmth and sun!
What a lovely crop,..don't they look so appealing, mouthwatering. Don't overdo things Dooley,..here's hoping you mend quickly.
Dooley, thats a great harvest, but you should be resting and mending. Please take care of yourself. You'll heal better and faster if you rest.
Beautiful tomatoes! Do take it easy a while. Looks like yours can ripen a bit more too. Nothing is pressing at the moment. Hope you are feeling better soon. Just hold down the channel changer a while !
