I was sitting doing nothing watching the little girl next door batting the tether ball around the pole. She was out by herself and half heartedly batting at the ball. So, I walked over and told her that I came to play with her. We played about half an hour and mostly I ducked. She can really whack that ball. After the first time she always told me, "Now, I'm going to hit the ball hard so get ready to duck!" She's a sweetie. She didn't care that I didn't jump after the high ones or had to keep ducking. She had someone to talk to. She talked a steady stream the whole time.
Then, I went in to see Seth's new bed. His dad was still building it. He needed a desk and there wasn't room for one so they made him a top bunk bed, no bed on the bottom. Now there is a place for his desk. He said his grandma really liked the bear we made together before Christmas. He said she cried and hugged him really hard. Do I get to say it made me feel good even if she cried?

It's lovely that there is enough child in you that you can enjoy a simple game of tether ball with another child! We all should follow your example--have fun, and duck!

Now, as my old boss used to say to me as he was about to give me some information, "Now, to make the cheese more binding."
It was a warm sunny day, so I was doing the laundry. While I was hanging it out I saw dooley next door playing tetherball with a nine year old girl who lives there. dooley has a birthday tomorrow and she will be seventy. Here she is playing tetherball with a little girl. We will be married 50 years in August and there is still things about her that I didn't know and I find out all the time. You got to love a lady like that and I do.

I'm not in the least surprised that you would play tether ball with a nine year old Dooley. After all we're only as old as we feel and you're so clearly full of the joys of life. :-D
Never grow up fully as it's much better fun to retain a little of that child we all have in us. After all, you've got to keep that lovely man of yours guessing what you'll do next haven't you? ;)

:) -- Dooley ypou have some good posts, don't you.
This was a good one and the bit about the bear and the crying grandma is so heart-warming to read.
You know, anytime that someone does something nice for another, it's so nice to hear about.
I am still glowing from that nice apron that you sent me--that was just soooo nice of you...and it gets used every day in the summer.
It has been washed and folded and placed in the "garden closet".
    Thanks again.

Dooley, I love that you do things with your neighbor kids and play with them! They probably love you so much!
It is really nice for kids to have the experience of spending time with adults(besides family members) They can always learn a thing or two, and will probably never forget you!

OH MY...how fortunate you are to still do such things...and such memories for that little girl...I bet she will be telling about this for a long time to come. Very enchanting. Nice hubby too.
