I always thought that Robins were strictly worm and insect eaters. But the robins around here are going wild over the mulberrys. I have 2 trees that produce and there are robins in both of them. They are having to compete with the squirrels however. This morning there were 6 squirrels in one tree and they got to fighting amongest themselves. They ended up chasing easch other into other trees and once they left, the robins moved in and took over the tree!
That's funny Capt! I knew Robin's ate berries...they are very fond of the berries on the Honeysuckle shrubs around here.
I have robins in my yard and I have really enjoyed their singing, it seems to have quit now. I think they were calling for a mate, I am not sure. I do see them with worms in their beaks with all the rain we have had. They seem to like the rain but I hope it quits for a few days now.
I have noticed that the yard is full of robins right after I mow the yard. Even when the ground is dry as it is now. I wonder if the vibration of the blades going around draws the worms closer to the surface or something?
