I thought I would try to make a wreath today. It was sunny and the sun was so warm out on the big front porch. I set up the table. But, making a wreath takes a circle wreath form. I didn't have one. So, I made a swag and several containers and baskets out of the cedar and pine cones we collected.
I hung this one on the wall behind the chairs.

I made a bigger one but I haven't decided where to hang it. The door is metal so it's a little hard to hang things on it.

I made two or three containers to set in front of the fireplace which is still blocked off. We don't use it and we blocked it to keep the cold air out.

That's a teddy bear dressed up as Santa sitting on those branches.

I made two of these. There is one on either side of Father Christmas. There are very small bears sitting in them.

I have these two baskets of greens and pinecones with little things in them. I haven't decided where to put them yet.

I made a few more in small brass containers but decided I'd taken enough pictures. I'm not sure where I will put them. I guess I need to clean some space in my work/computer room. The kitchen counter is a little full right now. All the tins and jars are waiting to be filled with cookies for presents for friends and neighbors and the mailman and the ladies at the library and the guys at the farmer's market.

That shallow basket has pinecones, greens and a small snowman.
I have some cedar branches left and may yet try a wreath but tomorrow is to be cold and snowy so I will stay inside and sew.

Well, you were busy today Dooley! Gosh! Everything is so pretty but I have a special fondness for teddy bears at Christmas time. Can't explain it -- I'm not generally a teddy bear kind of person. I like the little bear peeking out of the container a lot!

This is Heather writing under Mama's account. She hasn't been feeling very well the last few days and she was looking at the pictures of the swags and containers that you made, but she was so tired, she told me to add a comment and let you know we thought these were gorgeous!!

That looks great and nothing like the smell of fresh pine in the house.

Oh my Dooly, you have made some pret-t-t-ty special looking decs there. Of all the things featured here my favourite is the very first one. I would hang that on my door--for sure.
The design is uncomplicated, yet the rffect is supurb, I find.

Now Dooley, I want to ask you about those boxes in the second pic from the top: The box that your display is sitting on and that more bluish-green one behind it a bit (with the yellow and red-looking floral design). I wonder if you could show there more clearly?
Where did you get them and where were they made? Do you recall?

I find them VERY interesting and that style of painting looks like it could be Friesian or even Norwegian.
Ach...I could easily be mistaken because I can't see them well, but they caught my attention as well as your handiwork.

I will have to get the boxes out and look at them. They are tea boxes or chests. I have had them forever I think. Well, we had a store when we lived in Wisconsin where we sold tea in bulk amounts by the ounce and by the pound. Coffee and spices, too. We collected tea and coffee cans and boxes. I don't have so many now but I will take some pictures so you can see them better. dooley

Your swap is beautiful, the bright red ornaments against the green cedar is so nice.

Hey with a talent like yours Dooley you should make more of those fabulous decorations and sell them along with your aprons and tote bags. I'm sure folks would love them as much as we all do. :-D

Very festive indeed. My wreath is...ahem....fake, but it serves its purpose. I will however be off to collect holly and mistletoe next week to fill the vases in the house.

Thanks, everyone! I wonder if I could make one like a fan. Maybe just turn it up and make the end a little longer and wrap it with more ribbon. Would the ornaments be too heavy and bend the branches? Maybe I'll have to try it just to see if it would work.
