I have my 9 tomato plants, 2 pepper plants, and 1 cuke so far in the ground. I got some carrot seeds in with the tomatoes and peppers. I looked up companion planting, and those are on the friend list for tomatoes. I have the cuke in another row, and have some blue butterfly peas in with it. That patch really needs more amendments, and I have not yet had a chance to haul manure to it. I have lots of onions and garlic to put out yet; and several packets of cantelopes and squashes to plant, and some watermelon seeds too. I planted some oregano in a tub since it is a perennial. I have rosemary and thyme in another tub, and some purple bee balm in the tub next to it. My canna lilies are up and going in some other tubs.

I did get some morning glories and more blue butterfly peas planted around my flower beds. I planted some of them with the roses in front of my latticework wall that my son built for me. My roses are full of buds, and one was peeking open this afternoon.

I have large paper grocery bag FULL of zinnia seeds to get planted, and of course lots of weeding to catch up on so I can plant things.

Friends gave me some Texas bluebonnet seed, and some of it is sprouted, so I want to get them in the ground soonest. I winter sowed that, and some other things. Storms knocked my markers down and mixed them up , so I am not sure what some of my winter plantings are.

I was able to get my lawn mowed Sunday before these storms moved in yesterday. At least things look presentable now.

I was able to get outdoors some more today, and work on my garden. I got 3 rows of cantelopes planted, a bed of Buttercup squash, and a row of cukes. I also did some digging and weeding so I could plant the cukes.

I have never seen the buttercup squash before, but it looks pretty good in the picture. It is a winter squash with a hard shell that is sort of speckled. The flesh is bright yellow, similar to a pumpkin or acorn squash, but it is round like a basketball. I thought I would try it. I like winter squashes, especially baked or mashed.

I want to plant some pepper seeds, and some watermelons tomorrow. I have a packet of seed for curly parsley. I hope they grow too.

I was able to transplant some of my winter sown seedlings today. The chives are in a pot on my back porch, but they still look like new grass. Friday I transplanted my little Texas bluebonnets to a big tub. Four of those seeds grew. I hope they take off and go wild for me. I have some other seedlings, but before they grew a storm blew the covers off, and the labels got mixed up... ?

Friday I put portulacas with the roses at my new latticework wall. I also planted some of S-H's blue butterfly peas and morning glories near the wall to climb it. The roses are all starting to put out buds, and a few have opened up. [I have 12 rose bushes.]

So many things are in bloom, and it makes things look lush right now. I even have a couple of peonies open.

How is everyone else's gardens doing?

sounds like you've been busy as a bee!!! I have a few things blooming, like Salvia, but just patiently waiting the others to join in... especially the Hibiscus.

My hibiscus/rose of sharon bushes do not bloom until around July usually. But I am in Missouri, and you are in Texas.

Cheryl, I love your little avatar picture. That is pretty.

I am busy outdoors a lot, and just pop in here now and then between stuff, like when I need to cool down.

AA... I don't have a Rose of Sharon, just some Hardy Hibiscus and some Dinner Plates. They are my favs. I also added some mini Hibiscus last year called "Lunas". I'm really excited to see them. And I crazily added one Tropical Hibiscus this year. A lady near me has been growing it for years... if it likes the weather at her house, it should like it at mine too, right?
Thanks about the avatar... when I ordered my GardenStew mug I wanted something pretty and bright and using two of my favorite things.... seashells and flowers. :stew1:
I do more 'Stewing here at work than I do at home... shhh... don't tell my boss.

You are really on a gardening roll. You will have lots to eat in o time. You'll love the butternut squash. It is a great winter time treat, sweet and a pretty good keeper.
