Going home yesterday evening dr and I had an accident. We are both doing fine, not hurt. Just a little shook up. It was more scary than anything and it could have been much, much worse. I had stopped for a traffic light and when it turned green I looked to see if one of the cars was going to stop or go and when she stopped I took my foot off of the brake and started into the intersection. A man ran the red light and was crossing in front of me and I hit him. There was no way I could have stopped but I wasn't going hardly at all when I hit him and our air bags did not deploy. I was a little dazed but managed to call 911. It was a busy intersection so there were lots of witnesses who told police the light was green my way. The man had tried to tell the police it wasn't red when he went through it. But, he didn't have proof of insurance. They took him off in handcuffs so he may have had other issues that we don't know about. dr thought he might have been drinking. I know he was speeding. But, we are okay. Our truck is okay to drive but has much front end damage. The insurance people are going to come inspect it and issue a damage report and she said if he didn't have insurence our insurance would take care of it plus a rental car while it's being repaired. dooley
Oh dear, it's good that you and dr are ok, that's what matters most. Take it easy, bet you are a bit sore today.
Oh, I am so sorry about your accident, but so glad you weren't hurt! Texas has to be the official "Let's run a red light" state.
My brother Sonny called and told me and I got so scared as he said all were being taken to the hospital.I was trying to get dressed to go to them and was so upset.Jubabe called me to let me know they were ok.I went to see about them as they got home soon after.I had to see for myself.
So sorry to hear about your accident. I'm just glad the both of you are okay. There is alot of crazy drivers here in Texas, that tries to beat a red light. Just take it easy for a few days and try to relax.
Oh gosh...scary! I'm glad you are both OK. People run red lights a lot-everyone is in a big hurry these days it seems.
Dooley the same thing happened to my daughter and myself some time ago. We weren't hurt much either but the shock was dreadful. I really hope that you and DR won't suffer any lasting affects and that the insurance pay up for the repairs to your truck. Look after each other and take time to recover fully.
Great Scott Dooley!!! You just never know when an accident is going to happen, do you. You guys were so lucky that it wasn't worse. What good news to hear that you were only a little shaken-up and had nothing broken...or worse. The arrangement for repairs with a loner while you wait is good to hear. I wonder about what was going on with that driver who hit you. Well, whew!---That was alarming news to read before hitting the hay. Take care and keep us posted with how things go.
Glad to know that both you and Dr are OK. Great driving Dooley Jumping red light here seems to be a favourite pastime for those inconsiderate drivers here and they just seem to feel proud doing that ..... grrrrr!!! I hate them!! Glad to know that guy won't be on the road for awhile.
So Glad to hear you both are doing okay. Just keep an eye out for any aches or pains that start up later, might be related to the accident and need to be treated. Uninsured motorist is what got him handcuffed and taken away. The new law down here leaves no wiggle room for them, they get hauled off to jail and the car is impounded. Anyone with them is left on the sidewalk to wait for someone to come get them. I had a close call with a red light runner too, I was out in the intersection and the car zoomed thru the intersection behind me so close I could feel the air flow hit the back of my car and the car behind me was barely able to stop without getting hit.
We are still doing good. They aren't coming to inspect the truck until Wednesday. But we have the collision place lined up and hopefully it won't take long to fix it. Meanwhile we are getting things done at home. dr finished building the front steps and just needs to do the railing. dooley
Golly, what a fright! I'm so glad you are both OK. The truck can be mended, and it's just metal anyway. Big, happy hugs to you both.
