I'm usually so good when I go into the Garden Center. Today I just couldn't stop myself! I bought an Empress Wu Hosta and a Red Dragon Japanese Maple. I have no idea WHERE I am going to plant them, I just HAD to have them!! Well, at least I can cross 2 things off my wish list
Anyone else have trouble controlling themselves lately?

You have it bad Netty. But let those who are innocent cast the first stone...
On second thoughts, you don't have to worry :D

You are safe from me. I always have a control problem at garden centers in spring...or summer....or fall.
Last time I made the rounds of my three favorites I had 15 plants in the herb garden section waiting for me to get their new homes ready. I had no idea where they were going when I bought them but I really don't see that as a reason not to buy them ;)

They were calling your name, it was not your fault!
(If you went back later to pick them up, they would
    probably be gone)

Oh my goodness! Thank heavens for understanding mates. Control has no meaning when it comes to plants.

One obsession follows another  : perennials (oh, so many)Stewbies keep introducing me too; sedums and Sempervivums, who knew there were so many different kinds :-D; natives and naturalizing plants gosh I love them and ferns too. Keep me away from the heirloom tomato plant shelf at the nursery. And going to the grocery store with their displays of plants is deadly  (where are the blinders when you need them? why isn't my hubby doing the shopping?)

I now have my little bay leaf tree (in a pot of course), Kinnikinnick, a couple dozen new types of sedums and Sempervivums (what a wonderful collection of forms and colors) and three new heirloom tomatoes to try. We don't count the bareroot perennials or dozen seed packs that have appeared this week. :-D

Sorry, I'm claiming to have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) ;)

    Happy gardening all

Control? In a garden Centre? You must be joking!!! All those poor plants lining up on shelves begging for a good home. As soon as they see me coming they hop into my basket yelling 'Take me home with you please Eileen. I need to live with you.' Now who could resist a heart-felt plea like that I ask you? :p
Netty you're letting the Plant Addicts Club members down 'cause you only bought two plants. :( Get back out there girl and buy some more. :D

I have to laugh. I was just there yesterday just to buy some dekkbark or dark brown bark mulch to finish off another project i have been working on. I only needed one bag, bought 5, needed no plants, bought 18 annuals. I didn't need any planters but bought 2 wooden barrels. Then i really laughed when KB walked up to the check out with a garden gnome under his arm to buy. lol. Yes garden centers are a weakness. But i think its a priority to be a member of the site. lol. just kidding!

Yep, I have that problem of control too. Each time I walk in I'm going to walk out with at least one thing...never fails. :p

Guilty  Especially if it is red or pink or purple or... :D
Does anyone have this problem? I seem to think that because my grandma had it in her garden or because mom had it in her yard that I need one too!!! Yikes!! Both of them had HUGE,BEAUTIFUL yards so that makes my wish list enormous! I am looking for "Rose Campion" I think is what it is called because both Mom & Grandma had that one! I bet you one got it and then shared it with the other :-D

I feel your pain--I got 5 new perennials yesterday.
I have been down in my back lately and can barely dig--I know I have lost my mind !!

NOW yer talkin', Netty! I like the sound of "loss of control at the garden centerZ"--it shows great gardening credentials. ;)

    You scored bigtime.
    Any pics forthcoming?

Well Sjoerd, I would love to post some pictures of my lovely new plants in their new home, but they haven't got one yet! It seems that I am going to have to create a new garden (or 2?) to accommodate them. It happens every year ...
