Next year I am going to plant twice as much okra and half as much squash. Okra was an experiment this year and it is yummy, pretty, and so far in my garden, disease and pest resistent (about the only thing too). Tonight I made a saute of new potatoes, okra, herbs and a slice of bacon and it was YUMMY... I have learned you have to pick 'em small and eat 'em fast! Otherwise, they got kind of woody.
Oh, yeah, I love Okra too. Sliced, rolled in beaten egg then rolled in cornmeal and fried in about an inch of oil in a frying pan. Or sliced and stewed with tomatoes. I may have to try your recipe Daisybeans. Small, under 2 inches taste the best and yes they are only at their best for about 2 days after picking.
toni the way you fix okra was my favorite as a kid. Hated it when my mom cooked it any other way. Summers are too cool here for okra though
