I have a question for you stewers.
How long do you keep a pumpkin on your porch before you send it on it's way? I never cut my pumpkins up
at Halloween, just plop it on the porch. I've had one there since October, and it rarely rains here so it has been kept fairly dry. What do you think - time to toss it (compost of course) or see if it will make it to next October? It's not really visible from the street and no neighbors have said anything. What can I say? I just love the look of pumpkins.

Why can't you have it on the porch for as long as you like? Ours collapsed from frost and/or rain after two months, but I moved it from the porch in mid-November and put it by the back door.

i vote for you to keep it!

if you didn't cut it and it's very dry, the seeds must be rattling around in it, huh? perhaps you could hang it up as a wind chime!!! :D

Keep it! I have kept various squashes until around now and then chopped them up and made soup before they go squishy, but of course, here in Essex mine have to be kept indoors or they would rot very quickly in the rain and snow.

If they are still firm and look gorgeous, then I say keep it!

i read somewhere that if you coat it with Vaseline it will keep longer. Not sure if its after you cut it a design or if its whole.

I have a fake pumpkin that has a light in it i will be putting outside this year and i think im gonna try to carve one, i havnt carved one before....the wife usually does it.

Halloween is one of my favourite holidays and autumn used to be my favourite season until i got into gardening. Now im all about spring!

How about Pumkylucky since it's still standing after all these months? It certainly knew how to pick it's owner. :D
