I trimmed back my Fall Astors by 1/2 this morning. They were about 4 ft tall so I reduced them to 2 ft. This will cause them to grow bushier and have more bloom. The best time to do this is in early to mid June. I have 2 Mums that I reduced by 1/2 also. Now I will let them grow but debud them until Aug and then let them start budding!

I have to trim back the wood asters in late spring so they do not take over any more of the yard than they already have. Some white ones have been trying to leapfrog to other areas. Sneaky little asters.

Last year when I trimmed my mums back, I rooted six of the trimmed pieces. There was a spot near Momma and I stuck them in the ground.

Last year we had 25 inches above normal rainfall, too.

We are in a weather pattern right now where it rains every day or every other day. I want to plant my beans and sweet corn, but it never dries enough to get the seeds into the ground.
