I woke up this a.m. feeling just exhausted from yesterday's gardening. Went with hubby for breakfast, at the diner around the corner, & Patsy, our waitress, even said "Claudine, you look BEAT". Went home exhausted, sat on low wall & watched hubby spruce up his 'Vette ( 72 yrs. old & he buys himself a 'vette.... go figure). Anyway, I started just piddling in garden, not intending to do much.... well, I worked non-stop all day & came in when it was too dark to see anything! Julie, my next-door neighbor, came over & said "Claudine .... go inside! Sunday's the day of REST!". Got so much done tho'.
Gardening is like that Claudine!! I go outside just to feed the birds then I notice a few weeds to be pulled. I pull them and see a bush needing trimmed, I trim it and then spy plants that have to be relocated......before I know it the whole day is gone, my back aches and my nails are full of dirt!! We do manage to get a heck of a lot done though don't we?
Claudine, you came in when it got dark? Haven't you heard of floodlights? Just kidding--we are all like that, compulsive weeders, planters, trimmers, and diggers. A day in the garden may be exhausting, but it certainly is satisfying. I'd bet your place looks great!
Marlingardener, I am doing just that with the lights. Traded a fellow (on craigslist, of course!) a huge parrot cage in exchange for running electrical lines out to my patio ( so I can hook up my fountain birdbath) & running lines for 3 lights on poles; one in front of sunroom & two by patio. I'm sure i'll be out at all hours puttering around, when it's done.
Claudine its addictive,..you start and keep going until you THINK you can finish,..then stand back and be happy with your progress,..but then within a few days you start again with another garden project,..it keeps going,..hoping to create just what is in your mind as to how the garden should look,..and oh the pains as a reward,
Claudine, you are definitely qualified to be a 'card-carrying' member of the inner-circle of this bunch of gardening nuts! ! ! Hank
Henry Johnson, i'm not only a gardening nut.... i'm a nut, in general! I get obcessed with a project & will just about kill myself getting it EXACTLY how my mind pictures it!
