Pink Guara - Onagraceae Gaura lindheimeri aka Twirling Butterflies All thru this spring I have been looking for it to return but there was no sign of it and I was sad. It had started coming up last year, but appeared to have drowned in all the rain we had last spring so I figured it was a goner. I have never really liked the color pink but this plant was really pretty so I figured when I found it at a garden center again I would replace it. In that same time period I saw a strange looking plant coming up in the middle of the Snapdragons almost three feet away. It had been two years since I had seen the Guara I had forgotten what it looked like and besides that plant was not where the Guara had been planted so it couldn't be it. Thought about pulling it up before it got bigger and ruined the Snaps, but a small voice in my head said leave it alone and see what it grows up to be. Now I need to gently move it or the Snaps to a safer place.
It's a lovely bloom, and so delicate too. Amazing how it "walks", though. I'm glad it came back and bloomed for you.
Maybe there is hope for my missindg Gaura. I know mines died from drought though. It may come back from a wayward seed. Do you have a happy dance and did you do it for: 1) the return of the gaura, and 2) for listening to the inner voice that said not to pull it up?
Droopy, I seem to have a yard 'made for walking' plants. First the Blaze Rose, then the Rudbekia that has moved itself about two feet away from it's original spot and now the Guara. Go figure D2D, Didn't do a happy dance as the kids next door were out in their yard and I didn't want to scare them But I do thank the Gardening Goddess voice, I have learned over the years to shut-up and listen-up when she speaks cause she is always right. Glenda, it also comes in white and I think the white is more available than the pink, at least it was when a couple of years ago.

Oohhhh, I like it!! My Red Hot Poker seems to travel too. Every spring I think it's a goner and then it pokes up again a few feet from the last one!
