I want to brag smart grandaughter. You can sure tell she has none of my genes. At Five she entered Kindergarden only to tell her mom she was bored after thew first week could she stay home and learn like before. The daughter decided to try to get her into some type of gifted program but couldn't since that schools system doesn't start that program till grade 3. As of yesterday she was officely moved up to grade 1. Her test scores:::: The IQ test that he (the test giver) used is designed to give a lower score than the one that would have been used for me (Daughter) and Christopher(son) which also is probably the one that has been used to draw up the "definition" of gifted (generally over 130). I have found a table that says that an IQ of 122 on this 5th editiion would have given more like a 145 on the old LM edition... Here are a few of the formal test results that we have now for Leigh. As I told you, it was a real treat for me to work with her---she is a totally delightful girl. We did the Stanford-Binet INtelligence Test: It measures Nonverbal and Verbal abilities. The average score on these tests is 100 (50th %ile). Scores above 115 are more than 1 Standard Deviation above the mean (75th %ile). > Scores above 130 are 2 Standard Deviations above the mean (98th %ile) All scores are done in comparison to children of the same age group (5 yrs., 10 mths.) from across the nation: Leigh's Nonverbal IQ is 122 (93rd %ile) Verbal IQ is 121 (92nd %ile) Full Scale IQ is 122 (93rd %ile) Her highest ability area measured by this test is for what's called Fluid Reasoning---which is logical problem-solving ability = 135, 99th %ile. She demonstrated relatively weaker abilities (although still above average) for General Knowledge = 114, 82nd %ile Quantitaive Reasoning (math problem solving) = 114, 82nd %ile short-term Working Memory = 115, 84th %ile Achievement of Academic skills (in comparison to what is average for 5 1/2 year olds):: Total Reading Standard score 156, very superior range, 99.9th %ile Total Math ss = 139, 99.5th%ile Relatively lower skills: Math Calculation Fluency 118, 89th %ile Math Applied Problems 121, 92nd %ile General Academic Knowledge 114, 82nd %ile Al
That's great! Kids are learning younger and younger. I only understoof about 1/4th of what you were saying, so that puts me in the 1 % tile!
What terrific scores!!! Wouldn't like to do the tests though 'cause I just know that Leigh would show me up.
