I found this plant in a dumpster and brought it home. Is this an aloe? And also is the plant too small for the plant? ( photo / image / picture from Tina's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Tina's Garden )
Certainly looks like an aloe to me.And it will outgrow that pot eventually, but they don't mind it a little crowded. Just divide it up and repot when it looks to uncomfortable.
I have had people bring me them and they have grown out of the pot spread down the side of the pot and onto the table. It can live like that for years. When I get them I divide them up and pass them around. I don't want to keep them and everyone loves a free plant and it;s good to have them in the kitchen for burns. REALLY.
Tina, It does look like an aloe, but I don't think it is the kind you can use as medicinal aloe. The leaves look rather dry and hard and the growth is different than what we grow for medicinal aloe. Look closely at the growth on the last picture... it doesn't grow from a radiating base. More like the climbing aloe Aloe ciliaris not aloe barbadensis, but either way, you have a nice plant.
Good job Tina, and brownie points to you for saving this plant! Check it real good for pests, and keep it away from other plants for a while to be sure it doesn't spread disease or bugs.
