    Flea markets. Bless them.

KB and I found 2 flea markets and a garage sale today. (jumping up and down and doing the happy dance) Why you may ask is she so excited. Living in the Arctic, there is almost no chance of see one of these blessed events or even the signs that go with them. Now that I live in civilization again, I am going to shop til I drop!

Okay maybe not. I live in a Hytte or a Garden Cottage now. I really don't have the room. 3 rooms, bath and an entry hall or mud room. We say excuse me, pardon me at least 12 times aday just to pass each other. That includes Balder our Rottweiler. So this is our new home for the moment, until we move back to Lofoten someday.

    First is KBs fathers home.

Now our little Hytte that sits right next door. The foto here was taken right before i left for the states for a visit.

Why you ask is she a Junquie. Well i found a small childs dresser that would work perfect in my kitchen. Gasp, huh!? In the kitchen? Yeppers. Watch and see.

The dresser was so full of stickers, but i cleaned it up real good and KB put a butcher top over it and low and behold i have more cabinet room plus counter space.

Now ofcourse I did find some other things. Here is a spice rack, cheese and cracker wooden tray on the wall, a small cutting board, 3 ceramic rosemål bowls, pair of candlestick holders. Total price: 30 NrK. about 3 dollars.

A planter bowl that i am using for my utensils.

Another planter bowl, napkins, table cloth and small bowl i have my sugar in.

Now my kitchen is very small, but now i have more room actually than i did before.

I love Junque!! Total cost to the day of shopping: 155 Nrk. Thats pretty much pocket change here.

The dresser turned kitchen cabinet is great. Turning furniture into kitchen cabinets is great idea, I have a quarter round shelf unit at the end of the counter where the dishwasher used to be, it works great for extra shelf space for me.

Planters to hold the utensils and napkins are great ideas.
You did make quite a haul for what, just under $20 U.S.

P.S. I love your cottage. It may be small but you have the talent to make it a warm, adorable place to live. And we need pictures of it without snow so we can start planning your flower beds for you ;)

Will you have flower beds there? How far away from where you all lived before your new cottage? Who will take care of your old place?

I like flea markets and yard sales and we usually find one somewhere every weekend. You did well for yourself for sure. I recently bought a table with a butcher block top that I put in the kitchen for an island. It sure comes in useful. dooley

I love your new place Biita...looks quaint and cozy, despite the piles of snow! You have a good eye for junque and have done a great job of decorating so far.

Gosh Biita you did really well at the flea markets!! You have a real talent for making something out of, virtually, nothing. If you hadn't told us the kitchen cabinet was once a dresser we'd never have known. :-D Your home looks so welcoming and friendly. Just the place to sit and chat with friends.

Great finds at the flea markets Biita. I can't wait until yard sales start around here ~ usually when the weather warms up. I love your "little Hytte"...I'll bet it doesn't take long to clean (giving you more time to work in the yard) :D

I believe that if the truth were known--it would come out that you are in actuality, a blood relative of Toni. :D
Well, it looks like you had a great day. That kitchen looks quite nice actually and your ochre home is really a beauty.

Thanks all!! I really like my new addition to the kitchen. Last night i didn't know how to act when i made dinner and didn't have to stand and hold half of what i was making while i cooked the rest. lol. I want to hug that counter space!

I had also got 3 more bowls for my collection of bowls i have, a throw rug, 2 throw pillow covers and a set of curtains.

See the thing is when you go in to a flea market they ask if you would like to buy a bag, 20 Nrk or bigger is 30Nrk. Then you just fill it up if you see what you want. I had a blast!

I will take pics of my home with no snow, today since its bright and sunny and yes!!! i could use some help on what to plant and what not to plant. I haven't got a clue,,,lol.

    Thanks all again!!

lol,, thanks Sjoerd! Relation to Toni, huh. Well that can only be a good thing, since she is queen of the Junque. Good to have relatives in high places,,,lol.

Yep i do like my new home.
