I ran across these photos again, and had to share them with all of you...click here to view pics after an ice storm in Switzerland: http://agisbau.com/ice.htm And I thought I had it bad. I just made it home from work after driving through rain, sleet, hail, and snow. My knuckles are still white! The roads were terrible but nothing like this. We're expected to get quite a bit of snow, followed by high winds, and then subzero temperatures by morning. I'm hoping for an off day tomorrow!
Now that is serious ice :!: I know what you mean about white knuckles. I was driving on a country road and hit black ice. The car kept spinning and the fence post just kept flying by Hope you do get you day off. Sounds like everyone should stay home
Hi Kasey. Seems like what weather you get comes our way here to Michigan. We're waiting for all the bad weather to hit and already saying that there may be alot of schools closed again tomorrow (Wedn). Glad you made it home o.k. Driving in that kind of weather is certainly not fun.
That weather system is heading my way...wind warning, flash freeze warning and blowing snow warning. I'll be so glad when winter finally ends!
We went to town and the temp was 68 and partly cloudy. Three hours later we had thunderstorms, sleet, and snow. The wind was gusting to 50 mph and the temp was 26. Now we are at 12 and minus 7 wind chill. I hope it has all passed by morning. Wannabe
whoa,,now that is an ice storm in those pics,,, dang, but its beautiful at the same time. bet they have some major flooding when that all thaws. glad you made it home safe.
Oh, my, I'm so happy I've never experienced anything like that! It's beautifully weird to look at, though. That place must be between Geneva and Lausanne, and there are palm trees in Geneva. Unbelievable. Ice is impossible to drive on unless you're equipped with proper ice studs in your tires. I've had my share of suddenly going backwards or any other way I wasn't heading, but nothing bad came out of it. So far. Keep driving safely, and remember it's some times better to arrive too late.
Unfortunately, no snow day for me this morning. All area schools are closed due to the subzero windchills and blowing snow, but the storm stopped early last night so here I am...with all the kids off from school, I'm anticipating a busy day here at the library. Now, if I could only get them to read instead of play in the computer lab... :'( :'( :'(
Gosh I am shocked - it is beautiful and frightening - it is awesome. Please remind me of this when I want to complain about cold weather here in South Africa.
Palm Tree...my brother-in-law is from S. Africa and still has family that lives there, and they just got back from vacation near Cape Town. They said it was wonderful...apparently the owners of the home they rented had tortoises and the kids got a kick out of feeding them. They said they saw penguins, too, and I had no idea that they migrated up that far. Someday I'd like to visit, if I can get past that long plane flight there.
