Thank you for the quick ID! I think I will really like this forum!

Thanks Tina and Eileen, and thanks for trying Luke!
My son loves Seattle and I so love the fact that he sends me such beautiful pictures and really wants to know what they are! He even sent me pictures of flowers and insects (I like those too) when he was teaching English in Japan!

Loretta... the "plant ID" is what got me hooked on this place nearly 3 years ago. I looked online and looked... and posted questions/photos to a bunch of sites. And within the hour, someone here answered my question (and for the record... I've never heard back from any of those other sites).
It's just comforting to know that I can always count on someone here for a response.
    Hope you stick around! :stew2:

Thanks Cheryl, hopefully I can help someone someday! :-D
Tina, you said these are blooming all around Seattle...are they a naturalized/wildflower there then?

Loretta - By 'naturalized/wildflower' do you mean that they grow on their own here? In that case, I don't think so. They look very 'planted' and also are used a lot in landscaping here. I think they are more suited to the Seattle weather, thats all. Heather are definitely perennials here.
In fact Jewel has lovely heathers in her garden too. I think she can answer this question better.
