Well, the weather has finally improved enough for us to start doing a few things on the lotties. The glass panes are back in the greenhouse, some seeds have been planted, the first transplanting has begun, pruning...annnnnd the water has been re-connected so we can make fresh tea and coffee. One of the first things that we do is clean-out the little shed. It was then that I noticed that there was such a great collection of gardening footwear--footware for every eventuality. I would like to take this opportunity to say that most of them are my brides shoes. I did not show them all, in fact her wet-weather crocs are new and still at home, so they didn't make the line-up. I think the wildest things are the wellies. Sometimes my partner says that she will not be seen with me on the streets of our town if I wear certain of my gardening shoes(they have since been discarded)...well, if she goes anywhere off the plot in those bizarre wellies of her's I shall employ the same policy of denial. Here they are...well most of them, anyway:
I don't see a problem here. If the mud is really bad she has the wellies and on a muddy day if she is in a 'spicy' mood she wears the decorated ones with the red inside...red is such a mood enhancer If the mud isn't too bad but will still suck your shoes off in spots, then the ones on the far left are in order. Gardening on national holidays or when she feels especially patriotic she can wear the clogs on the right. The two croc types with no holes are for coolish days to keep her feet warmer. And two pairs because you never know when you will step in a muddy spot and need to change shoes. The crocs with the sunflower button are for the warmer days when she really needs to keep her feet cooler. What part of this doesn't make perfect sense?
What is your point sjoerd??? LOL...kidding aside I feel that all women need to have the perfect shoe for every occasion...and all kinds of weather... thanks for making me laugh....
Ha ha ha You guys really DO stick together, don't you. Well it seems that you girls find this collection perfectly normal. Am I then right in assuming that all of you also have such an array of agrdening footwear that you slip into and out of, depending upon the weather, mood or some other reason?
Yup! I was almost ready to get up and take a photo of all my gardening footwear, but my chair here is just to comfy tonight
Well, Netty...I would like to see what you guys wear over there. Perhaps tomorrow if you feel moved to.
Ummm shoes awe gee my shoes are stacked on top of each other and I have a few that wont fit in the closets.I still need a few more.I have all kinds for gardening but usually am barefoot in my garden.
Nice colelction - a pair to cover any eventuality that may occur. Oh yeah - Same type of collection here with an added extra- I got an old pair of hiking boots included - and something less - I do not have wellies. (Never really needed them) I am a bit like Glenda in this case because I also like being barefoot in the rain. I do love the crocs, they are great aren't they?
Wow...I am surprized, but perhaps I shopuldn't be--gardners are alike in so many ways. If you ask me, I'd bet that Eileen has the largest collection of us all...just guessing, mind you. I like the idea of being able to work in bare feet--I did this as a child in my grandparent's garden, but the plots that I have now were once sort of on a boggy dump site in centuries gone by. I would be afraid of cutting my feet on the broken glass and pottery shards now. I'm always finding old things such as old pottery bits, metal things and old smoking pipe bits (I think that I posted a pic once on here). Gosh, I wonder if I will eventually find an old bog man here like they did in Denmark. That'd be a shocker, wouldn't it!
To be honest all I have is one pair for good weather gardening and one pair for wet weather but I do like the thought of having a pair for every day of the week and maybe two pairs for Sunday.
