Just wanted to check in and let you know that we are back from our few days in Scotland. Yes, I took over 500 piccies, and I am in the process of resizing so I can get plenty up for you to see. On Wednesday we drove from Essex up to Dumfries in Scotland, roughly a 6 hour drive. The children were very well behaved, and we had several comfort stops along the way to break the journey. As we headed north, the scenery became more rugged and beautiful. We spent Wednesday night in a hotel in Dumfries which was lovely, having dinner, just the 4 of us. The highlight at that point for Jessica was hearing the waitress ask if she wanted a 'wee drink'. Jessica was thrilled. On Thursday we headed into Dumfries itself as we had some time to kill, and then headed to the coast. Such lovely landscapes, and I have some great pics for you of an ancient Abbey we came across. Finally, at lunch time we arrived at the castle. A lovely setting and amazing venue for the wedding. The whole event went swimmingly, everyone looked gorgeous, and the children, all 6 of them, were angels. I have to say, even with all of your fingers and toes being crossed, it poured and blew a gale, but that didn't spoil things for us. We had a delicious wedding breakfast, and then spent the evening drinking and chattering in the Snug. On Friday, both families, 20 of us in total, all enjoyed breakfasting together and then we all packed ready to leave. Before heading off, we spent some time exploring the castle and it's grounds. It poured with rain, but the sun shone through. Half the party headed home, the married couple headed off for their brief 2 day honeymoon at a Spa hotel in the Lake District, and the rest of us headed for the Lake District and then onto Blackpool. Gorgeous scenery again, but rotten weather. That evening in Blackpool, another family meal, this time 9 of us, and we all had a really good gossip and put the world to rights. Finally home on Saturday through alsorts of weather. We are all very exhausted and have this week, and then they are having a wedding reception near their home in Milton Keynes on Saturday for all of the friends and family that didn't go to the Scottish leg, so more partying and burning the candle. A magical time, and I promise to get pics up asap.
Sounds wonderful EJ! Sounds like a great time was had despite the rain. I can't wait to see your photos
Great to see you back. That was a good story of how things went on your trip. Well, you know me---I am chomping at the bit to see your foto's now. Welcome home.
So glad everything went so well with the journey and the wedding EJ. What a pity though that our Scottish weather didn't co-operate though. I'm really looking forward to seeing your photographs but take your time and recover from that long journey first. :-D
Welcome home, EJ. I'm so glad you had a good time, despite the weather, and I'm also very much looking forward to seeing that castle and everything else you photographed.
