    Hi all,
Well we survived Irene with no major damage. Got power back around 4 pm today. Six days was long enough. Lots of clean up to do, debri every where.
Lost 2 giant oaks and some pines. I truly think someone was watching over me.
I will get caught up with seed exchange in a couple of days. Thanks for your patience.

    Donna :-D

Hi Donna!! It's so good to hear from you and know that you are OK. :D What a mess Irene has left behind her but at least you weren't hurt or your home damaged. Six days without power must have been a real trial for you so thank goodness you have it back now.

Nice to see you are well Donna,..your deck looks a mess but at least it doesn't go further into the house,..how did you manage for six days without power?.

The Zinnias do look like they want in,..we could see from the CNN and Fox News over here,..just how bad the situation was,..luckily it eased somewhat,..but still lots of damage as you show,..oh boy what a clean up job.

    Hi Philip,
Having no power is awful. When we lose power we lose our water also. So I fill every thing I can find plus buy water. The best thing I did was take down spouts apart and put trash cans under them so I had plenty of water for flushing and saving my Angel Trumpets. :D We bought a generator that kept freezer and ref going, had 1 lamp at night and coffee in the morning. Hopefully we can get the well hooked into it before the next hurricane. It's kind of like camping, but I never like camping  The best part of it all was a hot shower after power came back on.

    Hi Eileen,
Been 12 days with out power before because of ice storm and over Christmas no less. Cooked Christmas dinner on grill that year. This is my 3rd hurricane, one tornado and a ice storm I've weathered. Need to find pictures cause they were all worst then this one.

Well Donna i can surely say you are a true gardener,..having enough water to flush and save your Angel Trumpets,..amazing what we prioritize when under pressure from the elements.

Over the years i have had long spells of no electricity,..or no water,..and have ended up with lots of Camping equipment,..even though like you camping is not a favorite pass time,..but having a two ring gas cooker,..just in case!,..has saved my bacon many times,..and a wood burning stove,..this winter i hope to have water storage for myself should we freeze up like last winter,..and then no water for 10 days,..melted snow was for cooking and flushing plus making tea.

Donna, so glad you are back and although not unscathed at least your house was spared and you are all ok! and the zinnias do look as if they want to come inside.

Hi Donna, so glad you are ok, was worried when saw how close your map pin was to water. Sorry that beautiful oak tree did not. I know how hard losing power is. Our worst was 7 days without power in a snow and ice storm, with a 1 year old baby in diapers. (needed a smiley with its nose plugged here) Makes us respect our forefathers and mothers.

Glad that Irene weakened before making landfall and that you didn't have serious damage.
