I have two peonies from my Mother's garden on the farm. A pink that has not opened yet and her short fire engine red.

A friend gave me several starts from his Grandmother's garden many years ago. The dark red has buds but none have opened. The two white are open now.

I waited several years to see this peony bloom. It was only six inches tall when I received it in a swap.

I have a dark pink or mauve from my Grandmother that is not opened yet.

This is a peony that started from one of my peonies dropping a seed. I allowed it to grow. After many years, it looks like this. It almost looks like a wild peony.

Very pretty Don. It is just too bad that the bloom period is so short. *sad*

I bought a white peony a few years ago and planted it in the garden next to my red one. Imagine my disappointment when it flowered the following year and was red too. :( Yours are all lovely blooms but, of course, my favourite is the white one.

It's so funny that we are so close to each other and I am always 2 weeks behind you. It must be because you are in a lower valley and we are higher.....

My two peonies are about finished blooming. And all the rain hasn't helped much, most of the petals are on the ground :( I have a Sarah Bernhardt and a Shawnee Chief.

I love the last one! Hmm maybe I should try letting my peonies go to seed... ;)

Your peonies are lovely. I particularly like the last, a single isn't it?
I have never heard of a peony setting seed! Yet of course they would...how else do breeders create new cultivars!? I will try it this summer. I am in MA & my peonies are still in the bud stage.

    Wow Don, nice peonies.
My fave is the last one, the wild one.
I also have a bunch of seedlings, from seeds I "collected" at a botanical garden.
As I could only see the seeds, no idea what and how they are supposed to bloom.
It's gonna be a while till I see a bloom, but I do love surprises...

Very cool Calin. I have done stuff like that, too. Collected seed, but my memory being what it is, sometimes I even forget what kind of plant it is! Then it really is a surprise.

I am in the same mood!!! My short red ones have bloomed and all the rest are in bud stage. The pink one you shared with me is going to do something this year :p I can't wait!!!! Maybe on my birthday it will burst open!

Beautiful - I especially like the last one. And from a dropped seed - what beautiful luck!
