We have been so wildly busy lately that I have not had time to post very much. I have had time to read nightly, tho. ;)

I just want to show a few shots of the developing flower garden. There still isn't much in the way of flowers but there is ever more green coming along, and therein lies hope.

The first is a Gallinula chloropus and some of her chicks. Sorry I do not know the name of this bird in english.

Then a hosta that was given to us when we started the garden. It badly needs separating but I would like to know the name. I am sort of counting on Droopy, because I know that she has more than a few, however anyone else that can identify it...please tell me.

Here is a view of one of the plots still thicjk with forget-me-nots (almost bloomed-out).

A Clematis at the base of an arch. It has been slow growing thus far.

Pale blue Aquilegias are looking delicious along the path.

These loveluy Geraniums with big, floppy blooms are a favourite of mine.

Awwww look at those moorhen babies - soooo cute!!! :-D Your lottie looks terrific Sjoerd. I really love those arches as they add a different dimension to your flower garden. Your clematis is a beauty and your aquileagias are really pretty. :stew1:

Very nice photos Sjoerd. The Hosta may be a variety of Hosta Undulata, but I'm sure Droopy will know. Your garden sure is looking colorful-I love the Clematis and the Geraniums. Heck, I love them all! :)

I love the birds, the overview, the clematis bloom, the aquilegias and the geranium too. :D The hosta is lovely. I think Netty's right. It looks like Hosta undulata mediopicta, but it can also be a Hosta undulata univittata. They're so alike I can't tell the difference.

Beautiful things happening in your garden Sjoerd. I am really looking forward to seeing your flower garden in full bloom again this year.

Your use of arches in the garden inspired me to use more of them too. I've had one for years and recently got another one free thru the rEcycleDFW list and hope to get at least one more soon.

Guess I've learned something new today. I didn't know there was names for hostas. though I do have the green and white and just the green. but I thought they were just 'hostas'. guess we learn something new everyday. Your flowers are lookin great Sjoerd. obviously by my last blog nothing in my garden is anywhere near yours. Hopefully we'll get to planting soon. We have had frost here a feww nites and another coming tonight. Boy, the end of May soon, I sure would like to get the garden in soon. Yours is lookin great though-way to go.

Your birds are beautiful. I don't think we have any like that here. Your gardens are beautiful, too. I'm moving all my potted plants today so the neighbor can give them a shot of water over the fence. Maybe when we get back I will work some more on my plants. dooley

Great pics Sjoerd. Your garden is certainly coming along. Mine is behind yours but I know it's coming. I can't wait to see some shots of the above in full bloom. I like the birds, I've never seen any like that before except in pics. Thanks for sharing.

Great Toni! I like an arch. I hope that yours will work for you.

Thanks 'Tunia. I guess everyone is a little before or a little behnd someone else. Heh heh heh. When I see what Glenda has to show for instance I think..."Wow, she sure is ahead of me!"...and when I see how it is up there at Biita's, I think, "Wow, poor Biits...I'm further along down here.".
Thinga will start rolling along for you soon...and boy am I ever interested to see what you'll have to show.

Ok Dooley. Great neighbour you have, as I said. Hope you have a great time visiting. From what I know, I can't imagine anything else. Glenda seems like such a nice person.

    I'm with you, Tschnath...I can't wait either. ;)

Thanks to all of you for your comments and "Hosta help". My bride has informed me that the hosta needs a more prominent place (once it's been divided-up). Hmmmm, I wonder where I should place a clump. She wants to see it as a "centerpiece" like the Acanthus. She really likes that plant, I would have gotten rid of it long ago because of how perniciously it seeds-out...but she likes it too much, so I move it around. If I ever just allude to moving it again, much less getting rid of it, there are waves of the most strenuous of protests and pleas for leniency. :) What's a guy to do.

Love the picture of the mama an her babies! I saw 3 families of Canadian geese on our lake today...hopefully the eagles and snapping turtles will leave them alone. And your flower pictures are beautiful, too. Forget-me-nots are a favorite of mine, as are the hardy geraniums (I have several varieties in my own yard). What's the name of the clematis? I've never seen that one before. Happy gardening!
