Botanical name of these beautiful silvery vines is "lotus bertholetti", common name is "Parrot's Beak". I have two that were purchased this late spring, am seeking information on the inside wintering over of them; propagation of such; and a source of seeds for this specific variety. I have searched in vain so far! Do know these plants are native to the Canary Islands; are pollinated by birds; can be propagated by cuttings, but could find nothing substantial on when and how to do it. As for locating a seed source, searches have turned up NIL, so ANY help at all will be GREATLY appreciated!

Lotus berthelotii, you have the 'e' and 'o' swapped, there is lots of info out there.

Totally unrelated to the water plant Lotus, but a multi-branched low growing woody perennial that has naturalized here. You could probably move it into a greenhouse or sunroom for the winter as long as it has proper light and water.

Laughing over the spelling: found it spelled both ways, opted for the wrong one? Anyway, thank you, Toni, will put the container they're in in the sunroom that faces South, greenhouse is unheated and would be too cold. Wish they neutralized here, are just beautiful plants when in bloom and overall coloring is gorgeous! Weeds n Seeds

    love this "lotus" !!!

hi everyone... why did u have to do this to ME?

i read this thread... searched for pics... and now... even though i said to myself... enough with the plants already! i still have to have a pot with this "lotus"!

i live in romania, so the only way would be in a pot and by the window in winter.

still... i'd love it and care for it :D

can anyone send me a rooted cutting? or seeds?

    PLIZ !!!

( i also saw some flowers are really red, and some more like orange... i like the red ones... are these different varieties or just different stages in flower's life???)

please someone (maybe... toni ???) send me something or i'll have to buy a ticket to the Canary Islands and get it myself!!!

    THANKS

    CALIN
