When I see the photos of your yards, your flowers, your vegetable gardens, crafts, and inventive and innovative ways of using things, I get envious.
You talented, crafty, great gardeners really set high standards for the rest of us to strive for.
So, thank you all for inspiring other gardeners.
Now I'll go pull some of my lovely, thriving weeds . . . .

Jane, your garden is gorgeous but you don't show it off enough!! You raise healthy chickens too and create envy of your own in some of us who can't.
And your herb and veggie gardens are most likely gorgeous too but we never see photos of them.....hint, hint, hint.

Jane, I quite agree with you. Everybody's gardens and veggie patches look so fresh and well-tended, and I enjoy seeing them. :stew2: I strive very hard to photograph my plants in a way that leaves out all the weeds and the mess in the background. :D

I'd also love to see some more photos from you. I haven't got chickens even though I want some, so I'm envious of those. Or rather, I'm not quite envious because I like that you have them, but I'd fancy some myself too if you catch my meaning. :D

When I think about it I find it quite amazing that so many crafty, skilful people are gathered here at the Stew, and I'm so grateful that they are.

Okay, I can follow orders (my husband would argue with that), so take a look at the post on Members' Gallery.

I make sure you don't see the tall quack grass when I take a photo...or I just delete them...I keep my scissors handy because you can't pull that stuff out...oops...I just told the whole stew gang I have weeds.

I like chickens....where are the girls?

I agree, I love your pictures and I find everyone so inspiring.

To be honest, I am using each and everyone of you as motivation and ideas.

We have gone through periods of complete overwhelming depression when it comes to this house! My husband spent a year complaining about weed-wacking so much that his gaming buddies actually emailed me to complain!

Now for the past few weekends we have worked together in the yard. He likes the 'room plan' and has planned his own project for later in the season. Saturday he finally got excited when he found a stone wall under a pile of leaves and weeds. He carefully exposed it and admired it, now he's taking about using the same type of rocks in his zen garden pans. It feels good to be motivated rather than depressed about our home!

Cris, when we moved here we had 7 foot tall weeds in the yard and barn lot, half the barn was falling down, and we had spider webs that could strangle you if you ran into one. No flowers, little grass, and two dead trees.
Keep the faith--it can be done, and if you work slowly and think before you dig, it will all come together!
Sherry, I posted a photo of the hens in my Red Gate Farm posting in the Gallery. It's hard to get the girls to pose--very short attention span, you know! I'll get more photos of them as soon as I can.

I have to agree that there are some very interesting and thought provoking garden pictures shown on here.
And just to show you what can be done, this is our garden when we moved in.

I love looking at everyone's photos of their gardens. How often do you get to visit so many unique and lovely plantings of every variety. It really helps to keep me out there getting my fingers dirty. As for my own pics posted...a little cropping out the unsightly never hurt...and no pics of the current huge brush pile as we tear the yard up with pruning and cutting back to let light into the yard. I'll wait until the pile iis gone and new flowers are blooming :stew1:
