Other than a few Daffs that surprise me when they do come up and bloom each spring, the Dutch Iris are very early bloomers. With the exceptionally warm winter we have had they are blooming even earlier than normal. First Dutch Iris to open this year ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) Second Dutch Iris ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I bought two Lavenders last month that were already starting to bloom. When the days are sunny and warm they are out front but when it the temperature drops they lounge in the warm bloom house. I cut these blooms the other day and have them on the kitchen windowsill. Mmmm, I can almost smell those lavender. Your Iris are so pretty, toni. I'm proud to say that I've got blooming Iris too now. But the mini ones, not the big ones.
Toni you have taken some good pics. I really enjoyed seeing the Irides and the Lavender. That wheel barrow looks fabulous.
Glad you all like my Iris and Lavender. I am pretty sure there were some purple ones when I first planted those Iris, but the last few springs they have all been white and yellow. But some of them have a purple tinge to the white petals. I don't know if it would happen, but I keep wondering if the whites were dominate and cross pollinated the purple ones out. I haven't done it yet, but I want to eventually have a Iris bed that is constantly in bloom from early spring thru summer. I just have to sit down and start looking for sources for all the different ones. I love Lavender but have had a hard time finding a place for it that it likes. I am thinking that strip out front with the other Xeriscape plants might be the best bet.
