I have not been on a cruise and is thinking of going on one. It is a 6 days cruise from Singapore to Bangkok on the Voyager of the Seas by the Royal Caribbean International. My concern is that would it be boring to be on a same ship for 6 days! What are your thoughts and experiences? Any feed back will be most appreciated
Have been on two cruises. To keep it interesting book excursions at the different ports of call, enjoy the dinners with other travelers (I find people very interesting especially if they view the world from a totally different perspective then mine) and get to know your ship. There are usually activities that you can participate in if you are interested, live performances, wine tastings, etc. daily/nightly. We’ve also enjoyed getting to know the members of the crew, where they are from, etc. I love this means of travel for the same reason I enjoy caravaning. You unpack once and your hotel room goes with you with the sights changing daily. What makes it especially nice is all meals are taken care of. They even accommodate any dietary needs you have. The specialty restaurants cost extra but have always been exceptional. If you get bored or have down time there is always a good book and some time relaxing, by the pool or in the ship library or trying your luck in the casino. Some people go for these reasons alone, but we have yet to be that sedentary. Good luck deciding if this is for you. Our last cruise to Alaska was with Royal Caribbean. I believe it was on the same ship just previous to it relocating to the other side of the Pacific. Some crew members were looking forward to seeing family.
Thanks Jewell that sounds comfortable. I had been checking and the more I check the more hidden cost appear which is very discouraging for me. Why can't they just price base on net price!
KK, is that 6 days at sea with no ports of call? That would bore me to tears. We have only done two cruises and both last year. The first was a four night sampler from Dver to Amsterdam then on to Guernsey in the channel Islands. The second was a twelve nighter from Southampton to Madeira, the Canary Islands then North West Spain at La Corunna. We had five ports of call with the usual excursions. On both occasions we travelled with a UK company that caters for over fifties and includes everything in their package, and I do mean everything. Front door to port transfer, all gratuities, insurance, wines and beers at all meals etc/ The whole deal. But did we enjoy it? NO, not really. I think cruising suits some people but not everybody. Your 6 day 'taster' sounds just right to decide if cruising is for you or not.....
Thanks for sharing your experience. I am now looking at other cruise company ... maybe I should look at other itineraries with more port of calls.
I can't even think about a cruise...I get seasick and lately I have had a few episodes of Vertigo and it hasn't been fun. I can't even think about getting a boat even though we just moved to the lake last sept. I would hate to think of suffering through a whole cruise being sick so I will just stay on dry land...
