This morning it was less than 15f.!!!!!!...I can't believe the frigidity of our weather and it doesn't sound as if it is warming up at all in the next week. Highs in the 30's and lows in the 20's. Last night was frigid
I know! It is an unseasonable 23°F here this a.m. It is also snowing. We're getting some of Mother Nature's white fertilizer , Jerry! Makes it kind of hard to get out to work in the landscaping biz. :-x
I think you must know my boss! He is constantly thinking of ways to make more money. We were going to go do mulch & maintenance, but I think the guys may be headed out to push snow.. :-?
It appears the average last freeze dates for Ohio range from April 21st to May 14th...so I would say you have at least another month or 6 weeks until Spring weather is assured in your area and you don't have to worry about freezes. I would be glad to ship you some 70-80 degree temperatures if you will send me some 30's
Well, that is the average last frost, but we usually get some kind of warm up between March and May....not just frozen all the way to then. I will be glad to send you some of this. I went to get a hose for my husband for a job he was working on and all the hoses are FROZEN. GGGRRR! So, he was out of luck to fill the new septic tanks he was installing, that way.
Heard on the radio this Am that state climatologist said it might not get warm until mid May!!! Let's hope he is as mistaken as that stupid groundhog. It doesn't need to be 80s like last year but could we please get into the 50s ? Nurseries were anticipating an early spring & are bursting at the seams with bedding plants that were started early. sNs
Here in central Ohio the frost free date is May 15th. But we have had flurries off and on all day here.
S, Thanks. I will try to stay warm. it is miserable! SnS....I hope not, but I did hear March was going to be the same weather pattern as Feb, way back in Feb. :-x Capt I am just a little north of you and we get the lake effect snow and clouds Today I was very grumpy. My DEAR husband needed some hoses to fill a new septic tank he was installing and I about screamed when all the hoses were FROZEN. I hate frozen hoses. One is not much good for moving water if the whole thing is one big icicle. I am wondering if May 15 is a little off the mark this year. Maybe JUNE 15th at this rate.
Hang in there! Spring's out there somewhere and might just jump on us when we least expect it. We've got this saying about spring: If the ice on the lake can bear a grown man by midsummer it's going to be a late spring.
I just drove by the neighbors and I saw that the pond is FROZEN over . I have never seen any pond frozen over this late in the year around here. Here is the forecast for the week http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.ph ... n=-81.7319 Droopy....Shame on that thought! Don't you need to go wash your mouth out with soap now? or at least wash the fingers that just typed that thought!
All I can brag about is a frozen brook. Your forecast looks a lot like mine, temps and all. Are you certain you don't live nearby?
I hear you!!! it's hard to 'think' spring when it's still cold & snowy...wouldn't be so bad if the wind wasn't so darn bitter! :-?
We got some snow overnight too, and when I opened the door and saw it, it put me instantly into a bad mood!
