    Hi everyone,
Is this a weed? It comes up each year in one small area of one bed. It grows tall (24 inches or so), but doesn't seem to get any flower buds. Last year, around July or so I decided it must be a weed and pulled it all out. Maybe I didn't wait long enough? Or maybe should pull it out now?

Those leaves look alot like the leaves of the Solidago, or "Golden Rod" plant. There are several species, I believe. I do not know which one this would be.

Just an idea. We have this plant here and I suspect there as well.

Oh, I'll bet you are right. I vaguely remember Goldenrod growing in that particular garden years ago and it's probably hung around. I'll leave it for now and try not to lose patience with it.

    Thanks guys.

That also depends on your definition of a weed. Whereas I see all flowers are beautiful, no matter what they look like or how invasive they may be; you might think its ugly or be annoyed with it and call it a weed. Kinda like Kudzu or Wisteria, the stuff is everywhere and taking over, but it has a beautiful and sweet smelling flower. I say keep it because I like the yellow flowers it produces and the way it looks.

I don't mind it if it has flowers. Or pretty foliage. If it is goldenrod, as I recall I planted it there but it didn't do well. It doesn't seem to be invasive. I try to make peace even with the stuff that is invasive!

I like goldenrods as in Texas they are mostly in ditches and fields.I have never had a problem with them.I do think they are very pretty.
