I'm in Southern New Hampshire in Zone 5. I've been trying to figure out a tall grass that will grow here and saw this today. Anyone know what type of grass this could be? Probably doesn't help that it is early April, and this is last years growth, or maybe it does. This one is in full sun, I was also hoping to find a grass or another quick growing screen that might do well in partial sun.

Until it grows it is hard to say. Could be pampas grass or not. I have a grass that grows fairly fast, spreads fairly well and is green and white striped was it grows. I dug mine out. It grew too fast and took up too much room in my flower bed.

Does the grass have a fuzzy white/beige or pinkish top at the end of the summer?

    Perhaps Calamagrostis x acutiflora.

Looks kind of like Saccharum ravennae, 'Northern Pampas Grass'. Do you think it might be this?
