A little over a month ago, I got to see my first Cyreus bloom. It was thrilling! http://www.gardenstew.com/viewtopic.php ... ght=cyreus Then last week, another Cyreus plant bloomed. Just as thrilling. http://www.gardenstew.com/viewtopic.php ... ght=cyreus That first plant had put on 10 new buds. Two bloomed before I thought they would. And a few buds dropped off. But I was prepared last night to catch it in the act again. And instead of trekking back and forth outside with a flashlight, I decided to just carry the plant indoors. I was happy to see the buds swelling. I even watched them open. Fun! How many would I get at once? Cyreus Twins ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) Cyreus Triplets ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) Nope... how about FIVE! Cyreus Quintuplets ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) Cyreus ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) I decided to experiment and see how long I could keep the blooms open. So the plant spent the night in the spare bedroom. Oh yeah... even though I could barely smell the flowers... when I opened up the door this morning, the room smelled really sweet. Blooms were still open, although showing signs of closing up. So I take the plant back to it's spot in the yard to get a daylight photo. It's been an hour now and they are about half closed. But there's one more unopened bud.
Gosh Cheryl how lucky are you? 5 flowers - fantastic!! I'd have been thrilled too to find so many beautiful blooms on my plant all at once.
Thanks Eileen and Jewell. I didn't ever expect it to put out that many blooms at once. Honestly... I haven't done much for that plant at all. Gave it a spot on the bench to call home and give it a drink every-once-in-a-while. I was really thinking that it needed a bigger pot. Maybe next year.
Amazing! I have had my Cyreus for about 15 years and it has only bloomed twice! And only one bloom each time!
Wow. Impressive. I love the blooms, unfortunately can't claim the same about the plants themselves...so I gave mine all away.
