A little over a month ago, I got to see my first Cyreus bloom. It was thrilling!

Then last week, another Cyreus plant bloomed. Just as thrilling.

That first plant had put on 10 new buds. Two bloomed before I thought they would. And a few buds dropped off.
But I was prepared last night to catch it in the act again. And instead of trekking back and forth outside with a flashlight, I decided to just carry the plant indoors.
I was happy to see the buds swelling. I even watched them open. Fun! How many would I get at once?

I decided to experiment and see how long I could keep the blooms open. So the plant spent the night in the spare bedroom.
Oh yeah... even though I could barely smell the flowers... when I opened up the door this morning, the room smelled really sweet.
Blooms were still open, although showing signs of closing up. So I take the plant back to it's spot in the yard to get a daylight photo.

Then I thought... why not put the plant back in the house just to see how long the blooms would stay open. It's been an hour now and they are about half closed. But there's one more unopened bud.

Gosh Cheryl how lucky are you? 5 flowers - fantastic!! :D I'd have been thrilled too to find so many beautiful blooms on my plant all at once.

Thanks Eileen and Jewell. I didn't ever expect it to put out that many blooms at once.
Honestly... I haven't done much for that plant at all. Gave it a spot on the bench to call home and give it a drink every-once-in-a-while.
I was really thinking that it needed a bigger pot. Maybe next year. :stew2:

Amazing! I have had my Cyreus for about 15 years and it has only bloomed twice! And only one bloom each time!

    Wow. Impressive.
I love the blooms, unfortunately can't claim the same about the plants themselves...so I gave mine all away.

Calin... you are so right... ugly plant. Guess it has to make itself worthy in some way, huh? :D
