Usually we don't see the "white stuff" in Texas, maybe once or twice in a decade, and never in October. But driving home from town today I noted the white stuff alongside the road.
Cotton is being transported to the gin, and some bolls escape and are blown along the road side. That's our October "snow" in this area of Texas.
My husband went out and got some to use in his bee smoker. Burning cotton bolls make a cool smoke which is needed to tranquilize the bees when the beekeeper is examining the hive.
I sincerely hope (sorry, Toni) that this is the extent of our snow!

I am glad you specified a bee smoker. For a moment there I was visualizing cotton smoked baby back ribs.

I didn't fall for it... I was thinking you had a nice pretty white flowering plant that looked like snowflakes to show us.
(Okay... for a second... I did think it was possible! )

What a good idea to use cotton in your smoker.
