I learned a few things today, you should always try to learn something each day. Today I learned that Wooly Bears, even at top speed, travel verrrrrrry slowly. The second thing I learned was the inside of a Wooly Bear is green. And the third thing I learned today is that no matter how hard I turn the wheel, my lawn tractor will only move so fast. The Wooly Bear was buried in a nice comfortable pile of grass clippings that will keep it warm this winter. Before I ran it over the bands of black indicated a mild winter. Now I am not sure if I have doomed the neighborhood to a winter of blizzards, perhaps a nor'easter of epic proportions or biting cold that chills the bones till April. Does anyone know the environmental consequences of running over a Wooly Bear? Jerry
Jerry, You're in deep, deep trouble. Move south, change your name, and send a large check to the Home for Indigent Wooly Bears. I have to dodge armadilloes and rabbits with our lawn tractor. Fortunately, both are rather quick on their feet!
Oh Jerry, I sure am glad it was you and not me. Don't sleep with your mouth open or your eyes closed.
I feel sorry for you Jerry if what the others say is true. But, you did give it a good burial so that should count for something. A squirrel committed suicide under the front wheel of my truck the other day but with the traffic I couldn't even stop and give it a decent burial. Maybe my yard will be loaded with extra acorns this year. dooley
Jerry you must immediatley pack up and go here: http://www.woollyworm.com/index.php?opt ... icle&id=54 You have to pay homage!
Oh No!! All is lost. Wait!! I have a plan!! I should head to a warmer climate where snow does not exist and stay there till the whole incident is forgotten. I will pack my bags this weekend and leave in the dead of night. All the other wooly bears will not see me leave. (It is well known that, in the fall, wooly bears can not see beyond their next meal) Now, to pick a warm place.........where there are no Wooly Bears........I hope.... Jerry Hello?.......Travel agent?........
Well Jerry much as I'd like to meet up with you don't let that travel agent suggest Scotland as the place to be for your enforced flight to another country. If he does then pack plenty of warm winter woollies (not the wooly bears type though ) as it gets rather chilly over here.
Costa Rica is nice this time of year. Of course, it is nice just about any time of year! I'm thinking of retirement there.
