When I was watering my garden yesterday, I noticed that the papaya looks almost ready for the picking. Maybe one more day I thought so I left it without another thought. The wind was really strong last night and I was hoping that the onions would finally lay down and wither.

Today when I went into my garden I was surprised to find the papaya was on the ground and the onions are as they were. Pick it up, inspected it for damages and was pleased to find it in perfect condition.

So today together with my daily harvest I was proud to show off the papaya to Becky even though I pick it up from the ground. The next one will definitely be plucked!

Sojerd please get the next flight here because I think we will be eating it tomorrow. :D

A grand harvest it is KK. It would be the envy of many produce stands. You will soon be enjoying a yummy meal.

Green papaya salad was one of my favorite meals when I was in Indonesia and Malaysia. Do you have a recipe for this salad? There was grated papaya, peppers, fish sauce, not sure what else was in it, but I remember it could be made at the local stands, and could order how many peppers to add.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear......Well KK--I went right straight out to the airport to get the next available flight, but of course they only had stand-by for me....no seats available.
I am so jealous of you getting that lovely papaya.
I really do have a hankering for one now. :p

You had a great harvest there. Everything in that crate looked so healthy and delicious. Well done.
Don't be too impatient with those onions...they'll come along. ;)

Oh my----I shall dream of that papaya when I go to bed this evening.

Hi KKNg, a real lush harvest, the greens look so healthy too.
Just thought I would show off a little,
this is what a good papaya or as we say here paw paw tree can look like when it really gets going.

Just thought that I post the photo of the cut up papaya first. Have to leave town for awhile to send my son to the country's capital Kuala Lumpur for his internship/industrial training before graduating next year. Will be back tomorrow :) Sorry to keep you all waiting.

Thanks Carolyn, everything taste just great except err.....

Thanks Jerry, wish I get that kind of harvest daily!

Thanks Kathyd, looks can be deceiving.

Karma I think what you are referring to is called Fruit Rojak and it is really appetising to eat, I love it too!

Sojerd, I hope you dreamt about the papaya just the way you like it!

    Thanks Philip.

Chocolate thanks and your paw paw is just magnificient.

    Thanks Stratsmom.

OOK now back to the taste of the papaya ... Sojerd we have to go Chocolate's garden and hijack her paw paw when they are ripe. The one I had taste kind of a blend. I am not sure why maybe it was nicked at the stem and that causes it to turn yellow and fall. The first papaya that grew is still green and I guess that would be more decent tasting when it is ripe. So finger crossed and I added more compost to it to make sure :)

I am confused. Are paw-paws papayas or are they a different fruit?
