Dewberries grow wild here, and we picked along the fence row yesterday.

They taste pretty much like a blackberry, but instead of growing on canes, they creep along the ground on very prickly vines (which are such a pleasure to stumble over!). They aren't big, but they are tasty!

I've seen some trying to ripen here too. We always just call them blackberries even though we know better. That's a nice harvest. I can just picture a cobbler being made out of them. :)

Oh, yeah! stumbling over thorny plants, A real pleasure! You did well, though! they look yummy. I have never had them before, though. I hope they are as yummy as they look for the work it takes to get them.

I made a dozen dewberry tarts today. I had planned on making more, but the humidity was playing havoc with my dough!
Somehow, when the tarts were cooling, three disappeared. I checked the cat and she didn't have dewberry stains on her mouth. Perhaps I need to check my husband for dewberry stains?

I've never seen dewberries, they look delicious! Things I bake disappear of my counters too, usually it's the kids.

Wish I could send all of you a dewberry tart! We got 3/7" of rain yesterday and last night, so no picking for a couple of days.
When we pick next time, if there are enough dewberries, I'll make some jam. I'd like to take some fresh to the food pantry, but I'm afraid the dewberries might start a riot!
